Our pastor was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and was married in 1981 to Dorcas Adele Hafercamp, who originated from Texas. Pastor John received his Associate Degree at Lutheran Bible Institute in Teaneck, New Jersey, and and his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Concordia College in Bronxville, New York. After graduate study at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, he attended Concordia Seminary of St. Louis, Missouri, where he earned the Master of Divinity Degree. He served as Vicar at St. John's Lutheran Church in Edgerton, Wisconsin. He also served as Missionary at Large and Pastor of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aspen, Colorado. From 1986 to 1991, he served as Pastor of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Miami, Florida, and in April of 1991, he came to Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoys traveling and has led tours to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as to the Holy Land. Pastor's wife, Dorcas, is a registered nurse with a B.S.N. Degree, and enjoys reading, music and snorkeling. Dorcas plays the organ at both worship services and is the church's Choir Director. The Hirsts have three wonderful sons, John David, Stephen Adam and Timothy Andrew. |
